Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is ideal for clients wanting relief from pain due to lack of movement, sports injury, or intense training. Office workers or manual laborers deal with postural stress and are great candidates for this modality. Conditions like sciatica, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, low back pain, and neck pain all benefit from this modality. Deep tissue massage can lengthen shortened tissue, unwind fascial restrictions, and help you release endorphins, the natural opiates of the body.
Prior to getting on the table, I will ask you how you are feeling and what areas you want me to focus on. Since this style of massage is done slowly typically two to three areas, (like neck, spine, and hips), are addressed in a one-hour session.
This modality can be done with clients wearing light clothing or not. Minimal use of lotion is applied as it allows me to sink very deeply into your tissue. I work very slowly in this style, feeling tissue lengthen gradually. Often, I mobilize the joint area as I am releasing the tissue.
At the end of the massage, I check in to see how you’re feeling. It is not unusual for clients to feel reduced pain and improved movement after a deep tissue massage session.
